Over the last decade, if you've been listening to rock and pop music on the radio or catching your favorite artists on MTV and YouTube, you have heard the work of James Michael. As a multi-platinum producer, songwriter, mixer and recording artist, he consistently delivers chart topping projects across many genres for a diverse group of artists including Papa Roach, Sixx:AM, Cavo, James Durbin, Mötley Crüe, Meat Loaf, Jessie James, Alanis Morissette, Hilary Duff, Saliva, Halestorm, Scorpions, 12 Stones, among many others.
In addition to his successful producing and writing career, Michael is co-founder and lead singer of the rock band Sixx:AM, whose current single “Lies of the Beautiful People” from their 2nd album, This Is Gonna Hurt, reached #1 at Active Rock radio. This Is Gonna Hurt debuted on the BillBoard Top 200 Album Chart at #10. Sixx:AM’s debut album, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, featured the No.1 rock track of 2008, "Life is Beautiful." The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack stayed on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart for over 26 consecutive weeks, making it both a critical and commercial success.
Since wrapping up production and mixing on This Is Gonna Hurt, James Michael is full steam ahead with new projects, including Papa Roach, Cavo, James Durbin, HammerFall, Halestorm and many more.
Other recent projects had Michael co-writing and co-producing 6 tracks on Papa Roach’s album Metamorphosis, including the single "Lifeline," a #1 track for 6 weeks at Active Rock and Top 5 track at Alternative Radio. Metamorphosis debuted at No.8 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. James Michael produced, mixed and co-wrote Mötley Crüe's Saints Of Los Angeles album that debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.
Growing up in the Midwest, Michael alternately embraced and rebelled against formal musical training. He attended Columbia College, a fine arts school in Chicago, before heading west to Los Angeles where he worked various day jobs and played in bands at night. After honing his craft and finding his true style, in 2000 Michael released his debut solo record, Inhale, which he wrote, performed, recorded and mixed entirely by himself. Inhale helped reveal his talents to other artists and writers, launching Michael’s multi-faceted producer/writer career.
